Olympic Roundup: Kitchener’s Pavan wins debut in beach volleyball

Kitchener’s Sarah Pavan and partner Heather Bansley had a strong start to the Rio Olympics.
The duo defeated a Dutch team in straight sets on Sunday afternoon.
Their second game is Tuesday night against a team from Switzerland. They will wrap up play in Pool E Thursday vs. Germany.
RUGBY
Former Guelph Gryphon Britt Benn and Canada’s rugby 7’s will take on Australia in the semifinals on Monday afternoon. They beat France 15-5 in the quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
SWIMMING
The University of Guelph’s Evan Van Moerkerke and the men’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay team finished seventh in Sunday night’s final.
