Evan Van Moerkerke says the excitement is definitely building.
The Rio Olympics, will be the first for the 22-year-old Tillsonburg native and agricultural science student at the University of Guelph.
His most recent international win came at the Pan Am Games in Toronto in 2015. Van Moerkerke won a silver medal in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay.

Van Moerkerke tells 570 News he’s hoping to take in some of Rio while he’s there.
He’s scheduled to race on Sunday, August 7th.
“Even after I am done racing, I will still have to be training on a day to day basis…Just in case, there’s always that possibility that if someone gets sick or gets hurt, then I’ll kind of be the next one in line for the medley relay as well,”
