Kitchener Panthers open 2017 season on the road against Toronto

The Intercounty Baseball League have released it’s full schedule ahead of the 99th IBL season.

Baseball is set to begin May 7th, 2017 and your Kitchener Panthers will be in action on opening day. The Toronto Maple Leafs will host Kitchener at 2 p.m.

The defending IBL champions Barrie Baycats will host the London Majors to round out opening day.

Each team will play a 36-game schedule. Some key dates to watch out for include the Panthers home opener against the Barrie Baycats Sunday, May 14th at 2 p.m. Barrie ousted the Panthers out of the 2016 playoffs with a second round sweep of the club.

The first matchup between the Guelph Royals and the Panthers will be played May 22nd from Hastings Stadium in Guelph.

The London Majors beat the Panthers in a one-game playoff for the IBL pennant in 2016 and they will travel to Jack Couch Park May 25th.

Other key match-ups during the 2017 season:

May 13 – The Toronto Maple Leafs and the defending IBL champions Barrie Baycats will hook up for the first time in a re-match of the 2016 final which Barrie won in four straight games.

July 1 – Canada Day, Guelph will host Barrie and London welcomes Toronto.

July 30 – The IBL will put a close on it’s 99th season with three games on the schedule. Barrie visits Hamilton, Guelph travels to Jack Couch and London will be in Toronto.
