Regional Police charge man for stealing vehicle, hitting cyclist

A man has been arrested and is facing a number of charges after police say a vehicle was stolen in Kitchener Friday night.

Police say just before 9:00 p.m., they were called after a vehicle was stolen.

Then, 10 minutes later, a man was seen driving the stolen car on Belmont Avenue West in Kitchener.

Police say the vehicle hit a 54-year old woman riding her bike while crossing the road near Burns Place.

The driver didn’t stop and fled the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say they eventually caught up with the suspect and arrested him.

He has been charged with a number of offences, as well as driving under suspension.
