New Dundee set to light up the sky with Victoria Day fireworks

New Dundee is back at it again with their 7th annual Victoria Day fireworks.

Jen Tate, Chair of the New Dundee Fireworks Committee, says the show costs about $10,000 to put on and explains where the committee gets the funds from.

“The residents of New Dundee are the primary way that we are able to bring the fireworks to everybody and we do door-to-door canvassing throughout our neighbourhood.”

Tate says some local businesses also donate for the fireworks and even some businesses in Kitchener.

She says because fundraising efforts were so successful this year, the fireworks will be bigger this year.

On Sunday, the fun starts at 5 p.m., at the New Dundee Community Centre, and you can find rides for all ages, a BBQ, a beer garden and live music from a bunch of bands.

“We have Loose Cannon, KW Collective band, Doug Clayfield and Country 106.7 will be playing music throughout the evening as well,” Tate says.

Tate says the fireworks will start at dusk and all the fun starts up again the next day.

“Monday starts with our community-wide garage sale and then our park down off of Main Street is filled with approximately 50 vendors, a car show, Kiddies Fun Trak is there, and then we have food booths all around the whole park.”

She adds there will also be a parade happening at 1:30 p.m.
