Waterloo Region Women’s Campaign School is in session Saturday

A campaign school designed to help women get into politics is hosting its final class on Saturday.

This is the second and final class of the Waterloo Region Women’s Municipal Campaign School.

Its purpose is to inspire, teach and motivate women who are thinking about venturing into municipal politics.

The first class focused on lessons of why it’s important for women to run and the unique challenges they may face.

Saturday’s class gets into the details about how to run an effective campaign with lessons on campaign finance, filling out paperwork and getting your message to the community.

The school has been around since 2006, and has produced some notable graduates including, MP Bardish Chagger, MPP Catherine Fife, and former Waterloo Mayor Brenda Halloran.

The goal this year is to have 50 per cent female representation in every municipal council in the region.
