Kitchener man, occasional teacher faces child porn charges in national investigation

An occasional teacher with the Halton District School Board faces a number of child porn charges in connection with an national investigation.

Waterloo Regional Police searched a home in Kitchener on Valentine’s Day, and found numerous electronic devices containing child pornography.

The investigation came after complaints were made to the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre – alleging a Kitchener man was exploiting children over social media.

Police have arrested 32-year-old Victor Ly – who occasionally taught in Waterloo Region, and internationally at private schools.

The victims range in age from eight to 12-years-old.

Ly faces charges including three counts of child luring three counts of possession of child pornography, and extortion.

WRPS confirm Ly will appear in Kitchener court on March 1st.
