CAA releases safe driving tips for winter commuters

During winter, driving conditions can change drastically from hour to hour, and even minute to minute.

That’s why Kaitlynn Furse of CAA South Central Ontario is reminding drivers to always adjust to what is in front of them ‘respect old man winter, it takes longer to get where we need to go on those days, stay focused and plan your route and give yourself some extra time.’

Furse noted that most drivers number one complaint of others was both distracted driving and drivers not clearing off snow from their vehicles before setting out on their commutes.

Furse adds that not everyone is comfortable on the roads when winter conditions do arrive so drivers should ‘give everyone their personal space and distance because braking is going to be a little bit longer when it comes to slick roads during the winter.’

She went on to add that simple gestures such as ‘wave’ can go a long way to easing other drivers concerns.

Snow is expected to fall in the Region of Waterloo throughout the week.
