Rangers look to make it six straight

The Kitchener Rangers, now the seventh ranked team in the CHL, host a team on Friday that has plenty of local ties.

Mississauga has three players from Kitchener-Waterloo, two will be playing at The Aud for the first time.

Waterloo’s Keean Washkurak was the first of the local players to go in the 2017 OHL draft. Washkurak was a second round pick (30th overall) of the Steelheads.

Cole Schwindt, who’s also a rookie from Kitchener, was taken in the fourth round (69th overall).

Mississauga has Nic Hague as well. The Kitchener product was drafted by the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights in 2017. Hague is having a career year with 20 goals and 24 assists in 38 games.

The Steelheads upset the Soo Greyhounds 4-3 in a shootout on Thursday, ending the Soo’s 23 game win streak.

Kitchener has won five in a row heading into this one. Luke Richardson picked up his first OHL shutout in a 3-0 victory over Barrie on Tuesday.
