Nearly 300 local kids get to play on the big ice at the Aud

Nearly 300 kids in our community will get a chance to feel like a Kitchener Ranger today.

It’s the annual Hockey Day in Rangers Nation today at the Aud.

Sixteen Major Atom teams from around the region are participating in Hockey Day in Rangers Nation today.

Former President of the board of directors for the Kitchener Rangers and organizer Craig Campbell says it’s an experience that you can’t put a price on.

“When I see the reaction of a player who comes in the door and they see their name card on a locker in a dressing room it’s priceless. You cannot put a value on the reaction.”

The experience for the players doesn’t stop there, those taking part get to re-live their day as highlights from the event are broadcast on the video scoreboard as the Rangers host the Frontencas.

You can listen to Sunday’s game against Kingston on 570 News starting with the pre-game at 1:30 p.m.
