Tourism industry sees massive boom so far in 2017

Our country has seen a massive increase in visitors in 2017.

“In the first eight months of 2017, Canada has welcomed more than 14.6 million visitors, and that’s an increase of more than four percent over 2016,” explains Minister of Small Business and Tourism, Bardish Chagger.

She not only credits small businesses as being a drawing point, but also applauds the Government for the Canada 150 celebrations.

“2017 was also the 150th anniversary of Confederation, so many people wanted to be part of these celebrations. We as a government chose to ensure that we were celebrating the 150th every single day, rather than making it a one-day or a week affair.”

She adds that, “we want to put Canada back in the top 10 destinations, and we also want to increase overall tourism by 30 percent by 2021 as well.”

The Tourism Sector itself brings in more money to our economy than Agriculture, Forestry and Mining industries combined, with a total of $91 billion.
