Police confirm body found in water is Cambridge man Clayton Collison

Waterloo Regional Police have called off the search for a missing Cambridge man after confirming a body was found in the water near the Walter Bean Trail in Kitchener.

They have now confirmed to 570 NEWS that the body is that of Clayton Collison. There is no word yet on the cause of death.

20-year-old Clayton Collison was last seen on Saturday at 2 a.m. walking on Victoria Street North in Kitchener after leaving an Oktoberfest event on Friday night at Bingemans.

Over 100 family and friends conducted a search around the Region of Waterloo International Airport on Monday. Waterloo Regional Police tell 570 NEWS an OPP drone was used.

“We’ve been out Saturday, Sunday and yesterday, with a number of officers assigned, doing a number of different searches.” said Waterloo Regional Police Inspector Mike Haffner.

Family and friends set up a Facebook group to help organize their search.

Regional Police have not yet confirmed the body found is Collison. Stay with 570NEWS as we continue to follow this developing story.

Collison lives in the Preston area and races at the Flamboro Speedway.
