CampOut for Cancer fundraiser to be launched in Kitchener Tuesday

A brand new event will be kicking off Tuesday at Carl Zehr Square out in front of Kitchener City Hall it is a promising new program called CampOut for Cancer.

The event features a BBQ done by Kitchener’s own Chef D, the event runs from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. today and is designed to give people more info on CampOut for Cancer.

“It’s an unique event in that you can create your own campout and so it is not an event where everyone gets together to camp out, we wanted this event to really inclusive, for example for kids who are in hospital beds, so you can camp out for cancer anywhere,” said Jennifer Grant, Event Manager for CampOut for Cancer.

Grant says ” the goal of this event is to raise as much money as we can, so we can send more kids to Camp Trillium, it cost $1,000 to send a child to camp for a week and so we just want to make sure that the wait list gets smaller and that everyone has the ability to go to Camp Trillium.”

Grant adds that CampOut for Cancer starts on October 14th, but some people have already started their campout.
