University students get taste of our community at ‘WaterlooFest’

It’s the chance for University students to come together, and check out what the City of Waterloo has to offer.

Amy Ross is Cultural Planning Specialist of Economic Development with the City of Waterloo and us about WaterlooFest.

“WaterlooFest is a great collaboration with Wilfrid Laurier University, The University of Waterloo, and the City of Waterloo. It’s an event geared towards first-year students, but all students are welcome, and those in the community.”

Ross adds that it’s the fourth year for the event, although this year’s is a bit different.

“We’ll have live music, street performers, and a lot more! It’s a great way to get students off campus, and help them experience the community they are living in. This is the first year that we’ll be hosting it for both WLU and UW students.”

WaterlooFest kicks off in Waterloo Public Square at 3 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m.

Other events taking place this month for students include the Wilfrid Laurier University Get Involved Fair on September 8, the Veteran’s Green tent event on September 12, and the Doorknocker campaign on September 26.
