Cambridge receives $800K for stormwater upgrades

The federal and provincial governments are helping to pay for upgrades to the Burnett Avenue stormwater management pond in Cambridge.

The project will start this fall and will include the removal of overgrown weeds and restoring the inlet and outlet structures.

Cambridge City Engineer James Etienne tells us the goal is to ensure the pond has the capacity to handle runoff from the neighbourhood. “It’s a fairly hilly area so we do get a lot of run off from this area and it’s particularly important now that we’re experiencing more frequent heavier [rain] events.”

Just over $530,000 is coming from the federal government and almost $270,000 from the province and the city will pick up the remaining tab.
