The mayor of Thunder Bay, Ont., has been charged with extortion and obstructing justice.
Ontario Provincial Police say the charges against Keith Hobbs are in connection with an investigation into allegations of criminal wrongdoing that include a municipal official and a local resident.
Police say two others, Marisa Hobbs, 53, and Mary Voss, 46, have also been charged with extortion.
They say Marisa Hobbs is also facing an obstructing justice charge.
Police say the accused are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 26.
The charges come two months after provincial police charged Thunder Bay police Chief J.P. Levesque with breach of trust and obstructing justice.
