Hamilton man wanted for murder contacts Regional Police

Regional Police say they’re one step closer to tracking down a 24-year-old suspect wanted in connection with the death of a Kitchener woman.

Inspector Mike Haffner tells 570 NEWS that investigators have been in contact with Ager Hasan.

“Our investigators have had some contact with Hasan, with the most recent occurrence happening Wednesday night through a social media platform. However, the interactions have been somewhat intermittent.”

Haffner says they can’t specify which social media platform Hasan used to contact them.

“We can’t get too into the details of what has been said between investigators and Hasan, but there has been encouragement to get him to turn himself into authorities.”

Hasan fled the country across the Peace Bridge into the US back in April after his girlfriend Melinda Vasilije was found dead in her apartment.

Haffner says they’ll continue to work with their US partners to track down Hasan, and will be launching a social media campaign on Friday to gather tips from Americans.
