Cambridge man wins $1 million

A one million dollar lottery win for a Cambridge man.

Martin Jeschke says he plans to buy a new boat with the cash and pay off his mortgage.

“I scanned it in the ticket checker. At first I thought I won $1,000. I didn’t have my glasses with me so I couldn’t clearly see the screen. I asked the retailer to check my ticket and the terminal froze. The words, ‘Big Winner’ flashed on the screen. I wasn’t sure what was happening. Once OLG called the store and the validation slip was printed I realized I won.”

The 53 year old adds he wants to take his mom on vacation to Germany.

“I put my winning ticket in the cabinet because I wanted to keep it safe. Then I called my mom. Her first words were, ‘Oh my Lord! Can I have $100,000?’ I replied, ‘We’ll see,’ teasing her as I usually do. It was still hard to process.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Zehrs on Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge.
