Kitchener’s Colin Doyle to have jersey retired Saturday

There will be plenty of emotion inside Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on Saturday night.

Kitchener native Colin Doyle will see his number 7 retired by the Toronto Rock.

The Rock are hosting the Calgary Roughnecks at 7 p.m.

The 39-year-old Doyle announced his retirement back in November. He played 19 seasons in the NLL, 16 of them with the Toronto Rock.

Doyle was a guest on Prime Time Sports on Wednesday and says he enjoyed every single moment of playing professional lacrosse: “I was quite content doing what I did…I made a quasi living out of it, was
able to do it for close to 20 years and I’m walking away with my health and my happiness.”

Doyle adds he thinks he was good at the sport, thanks in large part, to being super competitive.

“I wanted to beat everybody.”
