Train stopped for hours in Cambridge after reported close encounter with pedestrian

Waterloo Regional Police and Cambridge Fire were called in around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday morning after a Canadian Pacific Railway train operator reported a “close encounter” with a pedestrian.
Police say the train near Elgin Street North and Beverly Street in Cambridge was stopped for hours.
The train operator and witnesses reported seeing two men in their 20s in the area at the time, and believed one of them was struck by the train.
Police, fire, and a K9 unit searched the area– but did not find anyone.
An Ornge Air Ambulance was called in as a precaution, but did not take anyone from the scene.
