It has three colours and three languages, but it’s meant to show support for all 196 countries in the world.
A “welcome sign” was designed by a Mennonite church in Virginia during the 2016 U.S. Election to wash out negative rhetoric from Donald Trump’s campaign.
Nearly three months later, and the movement to show support for refugees and immigrants is gaining ground in Kitchener.
First Mennonite Church is behind the project locally. Nancy Burkard tells 570 News it’s meant to strike to cord and show love. “It’s a nice friendly looking sign in colours that don’t reflect anyone’s political or religious beliefs, and show togetherness with all the countries in the world.”
You can purchase a sign through Mennonite Church of Eastern Canada for ten dollars.
