Wellington County OPP have charged two men on allegations of historic sexual abuse dating back to to the 1980’s.
The alleged abuse occurred at Elora Road Christian Fellowship Church and the Elora Road Christian School between the years 1981 and 1986.
One of the men arrested is the current principal at the school.
66-year-old Arend “John” Dekorte of Fergus and 80-year-old Henry Katerberg of Guelph Eramosa township both face counts of Sexual assault on a minor.
Dekorte who is currently the principal is facing 2 counts of that charge.
In an email sent to 570 News, Lead Pastor Jim Gordon with ERCF says the safety of our students are top priority. “We have a rigorous abuse prevention plan in place, and have a zero tolerance for any form of abuse. As an organization, we are following due process. Mr. Dekorte has been placed on a leave of absence until the matter is resolved via legal proceedings. Obviously, this is a difficult situation and we are praying for all involved.”
