Rangers trade Dawson Carty to Hamilton for draft pick

The Kitchener Rangers have traded veteran goaltender Dawson Carty to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

In return, the Rangers will receive a 5th round pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.

The move is aimed, in part, at reducing the Rangers’ number of overagers to three.

Their overagers now include Darby Llewellyn, Dylan Di Perna, and captain Frank Hora.

So far this season, Carty sports a record of 13 wins, 5 losses and a goals against average of 3.23 with a save percentage of .902.

The Rangers hit the road Thursday night for a game in Windsor, marking the end of the Christmas break for Kitchener.

It’s a key Western Conference matchup with the Rangers sitting in 6th place with 19 wins in 32 games good for 40 points.

The Spitfires are 4th in the conference with 49 points. They’re coming off a 4-3 overtime win over Saginaw Wednesday night.

It’s the beginning of a busy stretch for the Rangers who host Owen Sound Friday night and then entertain the always tough Erie Otters Sunday afternoon.

You can catch tonight’s contest on 570 News beginning with the pregame show at 6:35 p.m.
