Woolwich man charged after encounter with police on HWY 7/8

A 20-year-old Woolwich man faces numerous charges after he nearly injured an officer while trying to evade police on the Highway.
Police say an officer saw a black Ford Focus speeding and driving dangerously along Highway 7/8 on Wednesday evening and pulled it over.
The officer started walking towards the vehicle when the driver shifted into reverse and sped towards the officer. The officer stepped aside quickly but was still struck in the leg.
The vehicle then sped off but police were able to get the license plate number and tracked down the driver later in the evening.
A 20-year-old Woolwich Township man faces numerous charges including dangerous driving.
