Waterloo’s Northdale neighbourhood is getting a multi-million dollar facelift.
City council has voted in favour of a $24-million streetscape project for the area.
It follows the city’s approval of the Northdale land use and community improvement plan four years ago which aims to transition the neighbourhood into a mixed-use, higher density area.
Northdale covers the area bordered by Columbia Street, King Street North, University Avenue West and Phillip Street.
A list of priorities is now being developed with the first work expected to begin next year.
The end goal is to make Northdale a vibrant neighbourhood with more attractive streets and public spaces.
That could include new trails with better lighting.
