Uber vehicle stolen in Waterloo, suspect hits hydro pole

An Uber driver had his vehicle stolen in Waterloo on Thursday night.

Police say around 11pm, they got a call about a stolen vehicle in a parking lot near King and Spring in the Uptown.

Police allege an intoxicated 18-year-old man opened the door of the vehicle, pushed the driver out and sped off.

The suspect then drove the vehicle down the road and hit a hydro pole at the corner of Erb and Regina.

He was transported to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old man is facing charges of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, as well as impaired and dangerous driving.

The Uber driver was not hurt.
