Monday’s Oktoberfest parade starts in Kitchener for second straight year

For the second year in a row the parade route for this year’s Oktoberfest Parade will be a bit different, running from Kitchener to Waterloo.

With LRT work continuing along King, the parade will make its way down Weber Street towards Waterloo, passing under the GO train bridge.

Executive Director of KW Oktoberfest Dave MacNeil says the bridge will not pose a problem for floats and the route still provide great views to watch the colourful floats and spectacular marching bands pass by.

The parade gets underway at 8:30am and this year’s Parade Marshals are The Amazing Race Canada Winners Kristen McKenzie and Steph LeClair.

Volunteers from the Food Bank of Waterloo will be walking the parade route collecting food and funds for the Onkle Hans Food Drive.

570 News will have complete parade coverage from 6am to noon on Monday.
