Rangers look to keep the Firebirds in park in home & season opener

The Kitchener Rangers take the wraps off a new season in their home and season opener on Friday night.

The Flint Firebirds are here for a 7:30pm puck drop.

You can catch the pre-game show with Mike Farwell and Mike Torchia at 7pm on 570 News.

Centre Eric Guest is one of eight Rangers set to make his OHL debut.

“Grandparents coming down, mom and dad, a couple of friends, cause we’re just like an hour down the road in London, so I’m excited to see them.” said Guest, a third round pick of Kitchener in April’s draft.

Third year player Jacob Cascagnette adds the coaches have been preaching all pre-season for the players to take advantage of their speed.

Jay McKee took over as head coach for Mike Van Ryn in May. Kitchener also added Associate Coach Jason Fortier and Assistant Coach Matthew Barnaby.

Flint opened their season with a 4-0 win over Saginaw on Wednesday.
