Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up nine cents, or 1.22 per cent, to $7.44 on 12.2 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 27 cents, or 7.63 per cent, to $3.81 on 12.1 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 20 cents, or 2.70 per cent, to $7.60 on 9.7 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down 28 cents, or 2.98 per cent, to $9.13 on 8.8 million shares.

Eldorado Gold Corp. (TSX:ELD). Miner. Up 21 cents, or 3.31 per cent, to $6.55 on 8.2 million shares.

Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. (TSX:TCM). Miner. Up nine cents, or 14.06 per cent, to 73 cents on eight million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Torstar Corp. (TSX:TS.B). Publishing. Down eight cents, or 4.79 per cent, to $1.59 on 134,593 shares. The roles of president and CEO of Torstar Corp. and publisher of the Toronto Star will be amalgamated into one position, the company said Wednesday as it announced David Holland would retire this fall. Holland is retiring after 30 years with the company, including seven years as president and CEO of Torstar.
