Male victim of Mississauga blast identified as Robert Nadler

Police have identified the second body found in the debris of a deadly house explosion in Mississauga as that of Robert Nadler.

The news comes just one day after police confirmed the body of a woman found in the aftermath of the explosion back on Tuesday was that of Dianne Page, Nadler’s wife.

Police had previously said earlier this week that the house located at 4201 Hickory Drive was owned by Page and Nadler, who was convicted of murder back in 1982.

On Friday, the nephew of the woman killed in the explosion said his family is devastated by the tragedy.

Paul Camilleri said he knew nothing of the Tuesday blast which claimed the lives of two people until police called his father asking him to come identify the remains.

“It’s devastating,” Camilleri told CityNews, adding his father has been inconsolable since hearing the news of his sister’s death.

“My dad is just very, very upset. He’s very emotional. He misses his sister. He doesn’t believe this actually happened.”

Camilleri described his aunt as a part-time teacher who was a “really, really good person.”

Police say the current investigation is criminal, but not currently a murder investigation. Homicide detectives are monitoring the case.

As for the massive cleanup, bulldozers were brought in to clear away the wreckage closest to the blast site.

While neighbouring houses will likely need to be demolished, dozens of homes will be repaired. That includes apartment building units across the street where windows were shattered from the shockwave.

Estimates for repairs range from $2,000 to upwards of $50,000 per home, depending on the damages.
