Something to keep in mind if you want to have a campfire this long weekend, dry weather has resulted Waterloo Region being under an extreme risk for fire danger.
That is the highest level of risk on the Natural Resources Canada scale.
Wellesley, Woolwich, North Dumfries and Wilmot townships have all issued open fire bans because of the dry weather.
Perth, Oxford, and Middlesex counties are all under an extreme risk for fire danger as well.
John Percy with Waterloo Fire Rescue says this dry weather could also be dangerous when you fire up the bbq this weekend.
“…You’ve got to be really, really cautious. Sometimes we do get deck fires in the back because it’s so dry.”
