Third annual Fast-a-Thon being held at Conrad Grebel College

The UW Muslim Students Association is hosting its 3rd annual Fast-a-Thon today with an event tonight at Conrad Grebel College in the Main Hall.

They want the community to join them during the holy month of Ramadan to come together, celebrate with a meal to break the fast and gain an understanding of the struggle and reward it provides for Muslims.

The students say this Fast-a-Thon also raises awareness about local poverty and those needing the support of local shelters.

The MC for tonight is Abdurrahman Muni and he tells 570 News what they practice this month will carry on throughout the year.

He calls it a training ground to get closer to God.

The fast gets broken with prayer and the Iftar – a meal – after sunset.

Ramadan ends in early July – Eid-Al-Fitr arrives Wednesday, July 6th.
