Kitchener Rangers name Matthew Barnaby as new assistant coach

The Kitchener Rangers have added another former Buffalo Sabre to the coaching staff.

The team just announced that Matthew Barnaby will join the Rangers as an assistant coach in the 2016-17 season.

Barnaby spoke with our Chris Pope moments have the news came down.

 

Barnaby spent 14-years in the NHL amassing 300 points over 896 games.

Barnaby, who was noted for his aggressive style and ability to agitate opposing players, collected 2,732 minutes in penalties.

 

Since retiring from professional hockey in 2008, Barnaby has spent time in the broadcasting booth and behind the bench coaching youth hockey and running hockey clinics.

This is Barnaby’s first OHL coaching gig.
