LRT work may discolour some water in Uptown Waterloo

The City of Waterloo is advising residents that they may notice some discolouration in their water for the next two weeks.

The city is telling people not to drink the discoloured water. They say running the cold, unsoftened water tap nearest to the supply for 10 minutes will usually clear the discoloured water. If the discolouration does not go away, residents are asked to wait an hour and try running the taps again. Also important to note that discoloured water can stain laundry.

The discolouration comes as a result of LRT work that requires the temporary closure of a water main near the Caroline and Erb intersection.

The area most likely to be affected is south of University Avenue, East of Westmount Road, North of the Kitchener/Waterloo border and West of the Conestoga Parkway.
