Hot and humid conditions could cause high levels of air pollution

As the region sees warm temperatures this week, there is a possibility of high levels of air pollution.

Exposure to air pollution is a risk to those with heart or breathing problems and can also pose a risk to children and elderly.

The Region of Waterloo Public Health advises those at risk of getting ill to check local air quality forecasts and to modify activity.

Brandie Bevis Public Health Planner, Health Protection and Investigation says people with respiratory problems, asthma, and heart disease are also at risk.

“Some of the actions we recommend that they take at this level of air pollution would be to reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors or stay indoors if you can, especially somewhere that might be air-conditioned.”
