Waterloo MP Bardish Chagger delivers Budget speech in Waterloo Region

After releasing the massive 2016 Federal Budget last week, the Liberal Government is getting into more details about what the budget contains.

Waterloo Liberal Member of Parliament and Minister of Small Business and Tourism Bardish Chagger was in Kitchener today to talk about how the budget will affect the region.

The overall message from Minister Chagger is the importance of growing the middle class. She says this budget, more than any other recent budget, will allow Canada to do that,

“Budget 2016 is like none other tabled in the last decade, it’s about hope and optimism, it’s about middle class Canadians, and those hoping to join them.”

The conversation was a bit light on local details. Minister Chagger says it is too early to know what spending will made in Waterloo Region, but she did say the massive investment in education will be good for the regions three post-secondary schools.

“What’s neat about this budget and is important for this community is the knowledge infrastructure the 2 billion dollars that will be going into post-secondary institutions that will greatly benefit the people of this region.” Said Chagger.
