Laurier student comes up with new way to pay off debt

by Jeff Pickel

Paying off student debt can be a major burden for university graduates.

A local university student has started a project that would help lessen that debt while providing students with a place to live.

The concept is called “Scholarship Apartments” and was created by by Wilfrid Laurier student Arman Aryapour.

Aryapour’s idea would allow tenants of his building to receive half of their rent back in the form of a bursary after graduation. The initial plan is to charge $550.00 rents and after four years of university that would mean a $13,000 pay out.

Currently Scholarship Apartments has the backing of an investor worth $1,000,000 if they can raise the remain $800,000 on their own.

Aryapour has set up a GoFundMe page under the name Scholarship Apartments.
