Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up 23 cents, or 14.94 per cent, to $1.77 on 13.3 million shares. A news report said the Montreal-based plane maker had approached Airbus to sell a majority stake in its CSeries jet in return for help in completing development of the 110- to 160-seat aircraft.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up $1.30, or 21 per cent, to $7.49 on 12.5 million shares. The Vancouver-based mining and metals company has announced it wants to slash outstanding debt by at least US$1 billion within six months though a combination of asset sales and other strategic initiatives.

Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. (TSX:COS). Oil and gas. Down 32 cents, or 3.33 per cent, to $9.28 on 11.3 million shares.

Rubicon Minerals Corp. (TSX:RMX). Miner. Unchanged at 67 cents on 10.9 million shares.

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Down one cent, or 0.23 per cent, to $4.28 on 10.1 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 74 cents, or 15.42 per cent, to $5.54 on 8.2 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Pengrowth Energy Corp. (TSX:PGF). Oil and gas. Up 17 cents, or 13.71 per cent, to $1.41 on 1.8 million shares. Pengrowth has agreed to sell a property in eastern Alberta for $95 million in a move to reduce debt. The Bodo property produced the equivalent of 2,700 barrels of oil per day on average in first eight months of 2015.
