Three local athletes win OUA honours

Emily Brown of the women’s soccer team at Wilfrid Laurier University has been named female OUA Athlete of the Week.

The fifth-year business student scored three goals in wins over Guelph, Brock and McMaster.

The Golden Hawks are unbeaten in nine games to start the season.

Laurier kicker Nathan Mesher also won the Special Teams Award as an OUA Football Player of the Week.

He picked up 12 of Laurier’s points in a 22-18 loss to Windsor on Homecoming weekend.

Guelph Gryphons quarterback James Roberts won the award on offence. He threw for almost 400 yards and four touchdowns in a victory over Ottawa.
