Toronto police to provide update into Ashley Madison hack

Toronto police are expected to provide an update into the Ashley Madison hacking investigation on Monday.

A hacker group who call themselves The Impact Team breached the site and then published details of 36-million users online.

The 10 a.m. news conference will take place at police headquarters. Representatives from other Canadian and international law enforcement agencies will also be on-hand.

Avid Life Media is a Toronto-based company that owns Ashley Madison. The hackers say they released the data because Avid Life has refused to shut down both Ashley Madison and another site called Established Men.

Meanwhile, lawyers in Toronto have launched a national class action lawsuit against the corporations who run the Ashley Madison site.
