Provincial arbitrator awards Cambridge firefighters wage increases

After two years of negotiations, a settlement has been issued to the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The decision was handed down by a provincial arbitrator after two years of negotiations.

Cambridge Firefighters were given settlements of 2.7 per cent for 2013, and 2.79 per cent for 2014.

There were also increases in health care, retirement and benefits.

Officials with the city say it represents a big increase in the Cambridge Fire Department’s operating budget and they will be assessing the impact to the city as a whole.
