Seven extreme cold warnings issued in K-W in 2015, frigid temperatures expected once again today

Bundle up, we are under another extreme cold warning with wind chill values expected to dip into the -30’s Friday morning.

This is the seventh extreme cold warning issued in Waterloo Region this year, five of those issued in February alone.

Mark Seifert, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says this month has been unusually cold.

“Typically by the mid to late February, daytime highs should be, on average, around -1°C or so…it’s been much cold than that for much of the month.”

Temperatures are expected to be closer to the zero mark this weekend and into next week, but Seifert says it’s likely they will dip back into the minus teens through March.
