Section of Courtland Avenue closed after truck drives into powerline

Waterloo Regional Police have closed Courtland Avenue between Hwy 7/8 and Block Line Road.

Police say a dump truck drove into an overhead powerline with his box up at the time.

Police confirm to 570 News the driver attempted to remove the wires from his truck, but was not injured.

At this point, it’s not clear how long they expect the road to be closed.

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro says due to the downed lines, there’s a power outage on Courtland from Hwy 7/8 to Balzer and area. The Poles were broken due to the accident and the power is not expected to be restored for another 2-3 hours.
