It appears the designing, renovating and expanding the historic Old Post Office in Galt will cost dramatically more than initially advertised.
The price tag to date has been $12.5-million, but The Record says borrowing costs will push that figure to more than
$17-million by 2023.
That’s reportedly according to the city’s 10-year capital forecast.
Supporters of the project say it will transform the 127-year-old building into a “library of the future.”
While it will still contain traditional bookshelves, there will be more high tech services, not to mention live performances, children’s activities and a café.
