Cambridge introduces online and telephone voting for Oct. 27th election

Cambridge is introducing online and telephone voting for the upcoming municipal election.

The city has announced the new methods along with traditional advance polls and election day voting.

City Clerk Michael Di Lullo says it also means a longer voting period for residents.

Telephone and online voting will begin October 11 at 10 am to Oct 25 at 11:59pm.

Voters can log onto the website provided on voter registration cards and obtain a PIN number.

That number is used to cast you vote once you have logged onto Cambridge.ca/voteonline. You can also vote by phone at 1-866-949-5148.

Di Lullo says Cambridge will be using the same company New Brunswick employed during their recent provincial election.

There have been calls for a recount in that election following ballot tabulation problems.

Di Lullo says the Cambridge process will be safe and secure.

An information session will be held tonight at 6 at city hall.
