Final day for some at Kitchener’s Schneiders plant

Word this morning from Maple Leaf Foods that, while the Schneiders plant in Kitchener is winding down operations, it is not
closing for good today.
The first wave of layoffs are believed to be taking place this week, but it is not expected to completely close until later this year.
A Maple Leaf spokesman tells 570 News, no date has been set for the closure.
The work at the Kitchener plant will eventually be shifted to a facility in Hamilton.
In the meantime, the company is opening an employee job centre in downtown Kitchener on September 16th.
