Waterloo Region staffers set to undergo service review

The Region of Waterloo is about to undergo a service review that could cost up to $500,000.

The Record reports though that employees could have their confidentiality rights violated if their jobs are singled out, as the region wants the public involved in the process.

Regional Councillor Tom Galloway tells the paper it could lead to discussion about a particular job or person and it wouldn’t be fair for that to be public.

The review was prompted by a councillor’s request during the recent budget deliberations.

The focus is on how efficiently and effectively services are being delivered, not on where to cut staff and save money.

The Record says staffing costs jumped about 26 per cent from 2008 to 2012.
