Child in hospital following dog attack in Guelph

A two year old child is in hospital after being attacked by a dog in Guelph.
Guelph Police, Guelph Fire, EMS, and the Humane Society were called to a home on Vanier Drive today.

Officers say the two year old child sustained injuries to the right ear, arms, and puncture wounds to the upper back and stomach.

The child was taken to Guelph General Hospital for treatment, and then transfered to McMaster Hospital in Hamilton for further treatment.

Police say the dog, a great dane, was being walked by a relative of the child when the attack happened. The dog has been removed from the scene by the humane society.
