Sixth gain in a row for US stocks as more companies impress with earnings

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The stock market is notching its sixth gain in a row as more U.S. companies report solid earnings.

It’s the longest winning streak since September.

Netflix rose 7 per cent after the online video streaming service said its first-quarter earnings soared.

Harley-Davidson jumped 6 per cent after the company reported that its motorcycle sales rose worldwide.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose seven points, or 0.4 per cent, to close at 1,879 Tuesday.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 65 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 16,514. The Nasdaq composite rose 39 points, or 1 per cent, to 4,161.

Bond prices didn’t change much. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was flat at 2.72 per cent.
