If you’re looking to purchase a home in Kitchener-Waterloo now is the time, that according to a recent Spring Market Trends Report by ReMax.

Homeowners are shaking off the deep freeze of winter and the concern over local technology sectors has eased–this is setting the stage for a spring pickup in activity.

Gurinder Sandhu, is the excutive vice-president with ReMax Ontario Atlantic Canada and tells 570 News optimism is high for the remainder of the year as the region’s diversified economy and improved transit connections attract a new generation of buyers.

“Major employers include insurance companies, high tech firms and manufacturers with a robust star up sector. At the end of the day the two universties are attracking a new generation of new movers and shakers.”

Sanduh adds, realtors are expecting a stable real estate market for the remainder of 2014, with an expectation of increase in price of about 3 per cent and the number of homes trading hands at the same pace as last year.

The price of a single family home increased by roughly 3 per cent in the first two months for the year although unit sales were low, an increase once the snow melts is expect by realtors, which they say will lead to a balanced market throughout the rest of the year.
